Jonathan Quinn (Managing Director of Quinn Estate Agents) has been appointed the Northern Ireland Regional Representative for ARLA Propertymark, the largest professional body for letting agents in the UK and a mark of professionalism within the sector.
Jonathan Comments “I am delighted to have received this honour, a true highlight of my career to date and a role which I am determined to use to raise standards in our sector. Astoundingly it is not yet a requirement for letting agents to be a member of a regulatory authority in Northern Ireland and therefore easy for consumers to be misguided by those who do not practice the same professional standards as those required by ARLA. I believe all letting agents should be licensed to practice, both to protect the consumer and to encourage and maintain the highest industry standards”.
Jonathan continues “using an ARLA Propertymark agent ensures that that they are knowledgeable in terms of current legislation, hold Client Money Protection Insurance, have Professional Indemnity Insurance and carry out mandatory Continual Professional Development. In this industry, you really pay for what you get and landlords who use an agent who chooses not to be regulated should really reassess their choice. It is not until something goes wrong that these landlords will truly understand the cost. Picking the cheapest agent to represent your interests as a landlord could be a costly decision long-term”.
